Story Machine Games presents: Danger Park

Created by Story Machine Games

Danger Park is a light-weight map-building game of sabotage and fraud for 2-4 players. During play, players act as investors in a failing theme park, attempting to make as much money before the park is closed due to injury, illness, and general destruction. Spread infestations, leave dangerous malfunctions, and collect convenient insurance policies. Over 30 unique rides with beautiful art by Moy Shing Hung, and a deck of powerful improvement cards to add chaos to the process of out-profiting your friends & family.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

That’s a wrap! Thank you everyone!
about 4 years ago – Sat, Feb 29, 2020 at 11:47:16 AM

It has been a great month and a lovely experience. We are excited to make Danger Park the best it can be, and to get it to you as soon as possible. From Ben, Bobby, Jakob, and myself (Jono), we cannot express our thanks for your support, and the process is far from over. We will update y'all on production, design, and playtesting here, via our weekly email, on social media, and also through the Discord (We are going to keep the Discord open, and invite our gaming community at large, to give updates on all our games and events, specifically in a discussion-oriented atmosphere.)

In the meantime...

What’s next?

You will soon be emailed by BackerKit, our pledge manager, which will help track your pledge and any future changes to your email address. If you have any questions about BackerKit, their folks can help you, and so can we! You can use BackerKit to pledge late, or to update your pledge to a higher amount.

Stretch Goal!

We hit a stretch goal overnight, and we will be adding five special Improvements to the game, at 2 copies each. This is in addition to 13 Improvements inspired by backers, 5 rides designed by survey, and 9 more rides designed by backers. So much content!

Investors & Entrepreneurs

If you backed at a level that involves adding content to the game, please get in touch! We can be accessed through messages, or directly at [email protected]. We have the game artist already at work on the first round of additional rides, but we want to get your ideas to the table; playtesting is a critical part of the process, and we want to involve you in that as well (As our schedule allows, we will eventually have to work with what we have been given and move forward, to ensure game quality at the time of production.

Design Survey Results!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Feb 28, 2020 at 10:54:18 PM

We just have one day to go, and we expect to hit the nearest stretch goal overnight. In the meantime, thank you for all the ideas, suggestions, and wacky nonsense that came from the design survey process. If your submission is part of the ride designs that won, and you want a shout out in the game, message us ASAP. From over a hundred votes, we got the following four rides to add to the park, pending playtesting, balancing, and player feedback:

Conventions, Playtesting & More

We will be bringing along Danger Park with us wherever we go as we get through the final stages of development and production. Planning on attending Origins or GenCon? We will be there! Just come by and ask about the game and we can make sure you get to play a round.

BackerKit & PreOrders

We have had quite a few people ask about preorders, late pledges, and more. We will be accepting late pledges and such after the campaign for a few months, up until locking in shipping quantities with freight and getting the game to different parts of the world. It won't be too late to back!

Mailing List & Art Updates

If you want to see art updates and other information, join the mailing list at our website if you want to stay in touch outside of Kickstarter. We will continue to send regular updates on the process, but some folks either don't check or use Kickstarter too often, or want to back later and still receive updates.

Destroyed Ride Art, Final Ride Survey & Facebook Live Gameplay
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 26, 2020 at 04:17:42 PM

We have some cool news for you...

Now, during Kickstarter campaigns, we get messages from retailers, distributors, and other sources that are interested in copies of the game outside the Kickstarter process. Because of these new commitments and conversations, we have great news! We will be unlocking the destroyed ride art pledge level for you, to reflect the additional attention and business your support has gotten for us outside the campaign. Moy (our fantastic artist) is excited to finish up the artwork, and to work on the art for all the new rides. That's right- rides made through the survey or by Dubious Investors will be given destroyed ride art. This is a big deal for us, as the destroyed ride art was always part of the vision, and we really wanted to thank you for your support so far. To get stoked, here are the last two bits of destroyed art we have that we haven't shown- the rest are now on the Kickstarter page:

Nightmare Kid's Boat Adventure has gotten more immersive than usual.
Bat Mountain... still not enough bats, we think.

Final Ride Survey

It is time for the final ride survey! Vote now for the final few rides to be added to the park: Link here.

Facebook Live Gameplay

Tune in tomorrow (Thursday) starting at 11:30 EST to listen in as we talk about games, design, Kickstarter, and play some Danger Park! Can;t grab us on your lunch break? Check it out on our Facebook page later in the day.

Funded! And even more good news~

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this game a reality. It was a wild conversation two years ago when Ben and I spoke about Action Park for the first time and I was working on game design. We talked about other games on the market about building great theme parks, and about our love of RollerCoaster Tycoon, and then Ben said it: "What if vomit made the ride better?" Then it became clear there was a different angle, a new way to play, and something we would now forever want on our shelf. Thanks to everyone here, that will now come true. We cannot appreciate it more.

We have a lot of content to continue to put out as the game enters production. This includes art for new rides, gameplay videos, and other interesting tidbits.

How is making a terrible ride going?

We will be going to the final survey in a couple of days, so get your ideas in. What should the name of a fun house ride be? The quote on the "Tetanus Twister"? The ability of the "Grave Pool"? Click here to throw in your suggestions.

Upgrade for Danger Park!

Ever heard of Game Trayz? Well now you have! Game Trayz produces quality inserts and token holders for tabletop games, and is a popular premium addition to many Kickstarters. We will be replacing the cardboard insert of Danger Park with a pair of Game Trayz, one to act as a replacement for the park sign, and another to sort all your danger and cash tokens. IF we are going to build a dangerous theme park, we will be doing it in style! Keep on lookout for future updates with the images and samples of this nifty upgrade.

Dubious Investors and Sideshow Entrepreneurs:

We are stoked to have so many people involved in adding a few more cards to the park. We are excited with the conversations so far, but if you get a chance, please message us ASAP, or join the conversation on our Discord. We want to get to work on the final art as soon as possible! Here are two more rides designed by Dubious Investors. We will be adding the names of the various contributors to the final copy as well!

Share, share, share!

We have a nifty set of stretch goals and we want to start hitting them! Get the word out, share with your game groups, and check out our social media. Let's make this park as wild as possible!

What should these new rides do?

Welcome new backers! And greetings to everyone- thank you for filling out the ride design survey! It is time for the next, and arguably most fun, step.

Here is the link for the new survey: Link

You are welcome to be creative, vague, or experimental~ we will be editing for content and usability.

Let's Play with Story Machine Games

Next week we will be playing Danger Park in the office and posting the video. This is a fun one because we will be playtesting the new rides and improvements we have received so far. Want to check it out? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to see it ASAP, but we will also get it on an update.

As always, keep getting the word out; we are very close!

Best,

Jono
